My name is Soni Pelino.   I graduated from Emory University School of Medicine with my doctorate in physical therapy in 2009.  Prior to beginning my career as a physical therapist, I served in the US Air Force for 8 years. My hobbies include power yoga, tennis, and martial arts. I am on track to earn my black belt by the end of 2024. During the past 15 years, I have treated many patients with many different diagnoses; but I have been especially affected by the patients I have met with Parkinson's Disease (PD). When I learned of the Rock Steady Boxing program several years ago, I knew that my passion for martial arts along with my passion for helping those with PD, could become a powerful combination.  I traveled to Indianapolis in 2022 to take the certification course, and started Rock Steady East Cobb shortly thereafter.

Classes are held at the karate dojo where I train.  It is a small space, but I make very good use of the available space.  What started off with one participant, has grown into a wonderful family of 10 participants and a waiting list.  I now have to turn people away, which makes me sad, but I am hoping to expand soon.

Even though I have a waiting list, I still welcome anyone who would like to observe a class to see what Rock Steady is about.  So if it is a fit, there is another Rock Steady Program available at the Health Place at Kennestone Hospital, as well as other boxing type programs targeted toward PD at various gyms around town.
